Women's Ministry
The Women's Ministry at Christ Church seeks to bring women closer in their relationship with Christ and with one another through Bible studies, retreats, special events and programs. Our Women's Ministry is open to all women. It doesn't matter whether you're a stay-at-home mom or if you work outside the home; whether you're in your 20s, 40s, or 80s; whether you're single, married or widowed; or whether you have small children, college-aged kids or no kids at all. There is a place for you.
Take a look at upcoming events planned for the Women’s Ministry by viewing the information below. Find the events that interest you, and get them on your calendar now because we know just how busy a woman's life can get!
Need childcare? Limited spaces are available. Contact Kim Ripley at 281.980.6888 x4784 at least 48 hours in advance of any event you plan to attend to make your childcare arrangements! Also and very importantly, please remember to let Kim know if your childcare needs change!
Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing,
but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. ~Hebrews 10:25
United Methodist Women is the largest denominational faith organization for women with approximately 800,000 members. UMW is focused on missions and particularly in addressing the needs of women, youth and children. The unit at Christ Church offers quarterly unit-wide meetings as well as several circles. Find out more about how you can be a part of UMW.
Women's Bible Study is an important part of the Women's Ministry of Christ Church. It provides an environment for women to grow in their personal relationship with Christ through Bible study, fellowship and worship, to provide community outreach and to transform lives. We have a variety of options available to suit any need. There are ongoing Bible study groups in addition to Women's Bible Study and Fellowship (WBSF), which offers studies on a spring and fall schedule. Registration for the Fall 2011 WBSF session will begin at the end of the summer.
Women’s Breakfast Events
At these Saturday morning events, ladies will come together for breakfast, fellowship, and instruction on a topic that is relevant to the life of today’s busy woman.
2011 Events:
Saturday, January 22nd, 2011 from 9 - 11 am: Be Empowered! Eat Chocolate with Breakfast
The Women's Ministry presents "Be Empowered! Eat Chocolate with Breakfast" with author Jan Bethancourt. Join us for a great breakfast plus lots of chocolate treats. Fee of $20 covers breakfast and goodies. Our outreach effort for this breakfast will benefit Fort Bend Family Promise. Everyone is asked to bring new toiletry items to donate such as toilet paper, paper towels, shampoo, deodorant, disposable razors, tissues or antibacterial soap. Jan will also have signed copies of her book available for purchase.
Saturday, September 17th, 2011: Breakfast and Fashion Workshop
The day will begin with fellowship and breakfast and will be followed by a workshop from fashion consultant, Rebecca Matthews. Our outreach effort will stay within the fashion theme, with ladies encouraged to donate new or nearly-new (and cleaned!) interview appropriate clothing to Dress for Success, an organization that helps women who are striving to move back into the workplace.
Women’s Outings and Retreats
Each year during the fall season, Christ Church hosts its annual women’s retreat. This retreat offers ladies a chance to:
- Be refreshed and renewed in body, mind and spirit;
- Enjoy a time of fun and fellowship, all in a beautiful setting;
- Step away, even for just a time, from the stresses and demands of life.
