Adult Small Groups

We believe being connected to a small group ministry is one of the best ways to get involved at Christ United Methodist Church. Through the Christian fellowship and support you receive, you will be inspired to grow closer to Christ. These small groups will provide you a place to connect with other Christians with similar interests.

The following describes many of the small group opportunities at Christ Church. If you don't see one that fits your interests, let us know. We are always interested in ideas for new groups. All Group Ministries are open to church members and visitors alike.

HomeGroups

HomeGroups provide a way to continue in your spiritual growth! Groups of 10-12 members gather once weekly in homes throughout Sugar Land to participate in a study of the Bible. Studies are typically 6 weeks in duration, and most groups engage in 4 studies each year. Weekly gatherings approximate 1.5 hours in length, and are comprised of four simple components: fellowship, viewing of a video lesson, discussion of this lesson, and prayer. For more details, visit our HomeGroups webpage.

Walk to Emmaus

The Walk to Emmaus is a three-day experience of New Testament Christianity as a lifestyle. It is a highly-structured event designed to strengthen and renew the faith of Christian people, and through them, their families, their congregations, and the world in which they live. During the Walk to Emmaus, you'll discover how grace is real in your life, how you live a life of grace and bring grace to others. For more information, contact Annette or Bob Smith at 281-980-9277.

First Place Weight Loss

This program combines Bible study with a sensible eating plan to help participants focus on giving Christ first place in every area of their lives. The ultimate goal is for each person to experience a more abundant life, as Christ becomes Lord of their spiritual, mental, emotional and physical lives. Partipants meet once a week for discussion and Bible study. Contact Jason Nelson.

An interest in quilting is the only requirement to participate in this group whose mission is to promote the art of quilting through classes and workshops. Community and church service projects are also an important part of this ministry. The Quilt Guild meets the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM. Contact Elaine Huffer.

MOPS: Mothers of Preschoolers

The purpose of MOPS is to nurture every mother of preschoolers by meeting her distinct needs to the glory of Jesus Christ. MOPS meetings include topics such as child-rearing, womanhood, the home and marriage - all of which are based on biblical principles. Creative activities add fun and develop new skills. MOPS strives to fulfill the needs for friendship, creativity and for spiritual growth. MOPS meets twice a month, September through May on Fridays from 9:30am - noon.

MOPPETS is the children's program. Children from birth through kindergarten are cared for in a loving environment. Contact Christina Moreland at 281-937-0296.
