Other Small Groups
While Sunday School and HomeGroups make up a large portion of the small groups at Christ Church, there are many other small groups you may want to join. The following groups are open to both members and visitors.
The purpose of our Men’s Ministry is to provide the men of Christ Church and the community with an opportunity to fellowship with one another in a Christian environment and to facilitate small group studies, retreats, special events and programs that will help bring men closer to Christ. Contact Jason Nelson for more information.
MOPS: Mothers of Preschoolers
The purpose of MOPS is to nurture every mother of preschoolers by meeting her distinct needs to the glory of Jesus Christ. MOPS meetings include topics such as child-rearing, womanhood, the home and marriage - all of which are based on biblical principles. Creative activities add fun and develop new skills. MOPS strives to fulfill the needs for friendship, creativity and for spiritual growth. MOPS meets twice a month, September through May on Fridays from 9:30 am - noon.
MOPPETS is the children's program. Children from birth through kindergarten are cared for in a loving environment. Contact Missy Thompson via email or at 281.937.0259.
MOMSnext
Christ Church is excited to launch a new ministry for mothers of school-aged children. MOPS International has designed this new program to encourage, equip, and develop moms for the next phase of mothering. As kids enter the school years, new challenges and issues arise, but the need for community and hope remains.
Come join a community of moms as we tackle the challenges and issues that arise with our school-aged children. There will be plenty of fellowship, discussion, and prayer for our children at each of our meetings followed by an optional lunch out. Throughout the year we will participate in many fun activities including potluck lunches and service projects with our children. MOMSnext meets twice a month, September through May on Wednesdays from 9:30 am – 11:30 am.
For more information on MOMSnext, contact Stacey Johnson, Membership Coordinator, via email or contact Amy Abels, Coordinator, via email or at 281.208.0289.

An interest in quilting is the only requirement to participate in this group whose mission is to promote the art of quilting through classes and workshops. Community and church service projects are also an important part of this ministry. The Quilt Guild meets the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 pm. Contact Elaine Huffer.
The Walk to Emmaus is a three-day experience of New Testament Christianity as a lifestyle. It is a highly-structured event designed to strengthen and renew the faith of Christian people, and through them, their families, their congregations, and the world in which they live. During the Walk to Emmaus, you'll discover how grace is real in your life, how you live a life of grace and bring grace to others.
To get involved in Emmaus, each person must have a sponsor, who has already attended an Emmaus weekend. Members of Christ Church’s 4th Day Community often wear their Emmaus cross on a colorful chord on the first Sunday of each month. Any of these individuals could answer any questions you might have and more information is available on the Houston West Emmaus Community website where one can find the dates of the weekends and forms for application can be downloaded as well as sponsor forms.
