This Week's Ministry Spotlight is on...
Christ Church works in conjunction with Fort Bend Habitat to build a Habitat for Humanity home for a qualified family. Christ Church is currently preparing to build its 9th Habitat house in the Richmond/Rosenberg area, and is slated to begin on September 27th. Habitat’s philosophy is “hands up, not a hand out.” Volunteers from Christ Church and other churches work alongside the recipient of the home for 8-10 Saturdays to complete the home. The family must perform 300 “sweat equity” hours. If you know of family that may qualify, review the Family Selection Criteria and encourage them to apply by contacting Habitat at 281.207.2470 or completing the Homeowner Pre-Approval Form.
Volunteers are always in need during the build and financial assistance is also greatly appreciated at anytime. Feel free to join us to “Build Dreams, One Board at a Time.” Habitat is another selection in the Gift Unto Others catalog.

Financial Needs
- A Habitat Home now costs $60,000. Labor is donated (by us!)
- That’s a 25-30% increase over previous years.
- The Christ Church Habitat Ministry raises these funds outside the church budget completely through donations.
- You can double your donation by checking with your Human Resource Department to see if your company will match it.
- Donations made out to Fort Bend Habitat for Humanity can be earmarked to Christ Church and will qualify for most matching funds.
- Reduce some of the cash needs with non-monetary, in-kind donations, such as: concrete, paint, electrical or plumbing services, air conditioning and heating units, and landscaping.
- If you have friends or family members in the homebuilding industry let them know about the opportunity to support such a worthy cause. If you prefer, give us their names and we can contact them.
Ongoing Volunteer Needs
- No experience is required
- We need at least 40 volunteers each Saturday
- Volunteers can be co-workers, family, or friends.
- Teens can receive community service hours for graduation
- Leery of hammers? Use a paintbrush, landscape or help with food, mailings, or calling volunteers. We have plenty of opportunities.
If you are a minor, please have your parents complete the Release and Waiver of Liability before you volunteer.

Roof Trusses and roof deck – Finish sheathing, install roof trusses and roof deck. Install windows and exterior doors. |

Shingles and Siding – Finish roof deck, install sub-fascia, fascia, drip edge, shingles, and ridge vent. Start siding. Attic stairway framing. Dryer vent installation. |
