Christ Church School

Christ Church School is the Mother’s Day Out Pre-School program sponsored by Christ United Methodist Church. It was established in 1987 to provide an early childhood education in a Christian environment. It serves children of all races, nationalities, and religious creeds, infants through age five.

The school is an extension of the educational ministry of Christ United Methodist Church and is under the direction of the Christ Church School Governing Board.

In our classes, emphasis is placed on developing each child’s self esteem and on developing the creative potential of each child. Experiences are lovingly prepared by qualified teachers to help each child grow spiritually, emotionally, physically, intellectually and socially. The staff is experienced in working with young children and receives training in the field of early childhood education throughout the school year. Activities are carefully planned with many opportunities for self-expression, freedom of choice, self-reliance and spontaneity.

Goals

Teachers provide activities to meet the following goals:

  • To encourage each child’s expression of his/her feelings and needs in constructive ways.
  • To strengthen their awareness of their individuality, independence, and self confidence.
  • To encourage each child to learn appropriate times of cooperation with the other boys and girls and the teacher while maintaining his/her sense of independence.
  • To engage in large muscle movement and to provide opportunities to explore small muscle skills.
  • To explore various play and structured learning activities such as blocks, books, art, music, movement, and games; to sharpen observation skills while keeping the fun in learning.
  • To provide parental involvement as an integral part of the educational program for young children.
  • To provide each child with the opportunity to grow in awareness of the love of God and our natural world.

Curriculum

The curriculum varies for each age level. A wide variety of resources are used to plan activities for the children and are available for the teachers in the school office. At Christ Church School, we strive to provide a developmentally appropriate curriculum. Our teachers prepare for the children to learn through active exploration and interaction with adults, other children, and materials.

Classes

Classes are organized according to a child’s age on September 1, (which is the guideline set by the Fort Bend Independent School District). Children from 12 months through 5 years may be enrolled. Classes meet two or three days per week, depending on the age of the child. The Kindergarten class meets Monday through Friday. All classes begin at 9:30 a.m. and end either at 12:00 noon or 2:00 p.m.
