Order of Worship for a Service of Holy Matrimony
Below is a general Order of Worship for a Service of Holy Matrimony. Items in italics are not in every service, and are a part of the service at the discretion of wedding party:
Solo or ensemble
Seating of the grandparents
Seating of the parents (side unity candles may be lighted at this time, by mothers or others)
Solo or ensemble (usually listed in bulletin simply by the name of the music, with composer and soloist)
Processional (Musical selections often listed in a bulletin)
Congregational Hymn
Greeting
Charge to Bride and Groom
Vows of Intent
Presentation of the Bride
Solo or ensemble
Reading from Holy Scripture (may be read by the pastor, or by someone designated by the wedding party)

Homily
Wedding Vows
Exchange of Rings
Prayer
Lord’s Prayer (Spoken or Sung)
Lighting of the Unity Candle
Solo or ensemble (during lighting of the candle)

Note: A published bulletin is not necessary for all services, nor are all of the above items necessarily listed in a bulletin. The design and publication of the bulletin, if any, are the responsibility of the wedding party, but must be approved before printing by the pastor or wedding coordinator.
