Kathy Kirkpatrick, Associate Pastor
At the Texas Annual Conference in May 2007 the Bishop appointed me as an Associate Pastor at Christ Church. In hindsight, I see God’s hand in bringing me to this point over many years. As a young adult I taught Special Education. At the same time I became very involved in Christian Education for adults. Following training as a United Methodist Certified Lay Speaker I had opportunity to serve older adult populations, first in my then home state of North Carolina and then here, following a move to Sugar Land in 2002. For years I have taught the Word, led worship, and held God’s people in my heart. God wanted more. Hearing God’s Call, I responded by entering the candidacy process in the United Methodist Church to become licensed in pastoral ministry.
My primary responsibilities at Christ Church are ministering in a variety of contexts with and for our Older Adults within our congregation and reaching out into our community. Additionally, as part of the clergy team, I am involved with pastoral care, making hospital visits, ministering to our homebound and nursing care facility resident members. I assist in the administration of the sacraments, teaching the Word of God, and participate in worship. Many in the church know me as the teacher of the Jubilee Sunday School class which meets each Sunday morning.
